THE DRIVE-IN MOVIE THEATER: There are still a few around!
FIRST: WHY DID THE BLOND COUPLE FREEZE TO DEATH AT THE DRIVE-IN? THEY WENT TO SEE " CLOSED FOR THE WINTER "! Please visit our website @ http://www.thefountainheads.com As summer approaches it is time once again for a few big places to open their doors. The amusement park rides are dusted off, the boats are sprayed, and the last remaining Drive-In Movie Theaters warm up their projectors.
In the state of Minnesota there are only a few theaters left. They still play the concession stand commercials of old, and still have the piping hot popcorn waiting. The nice thing about these relics are that you pay about $5 a person and get to watch 2 or 3 BRAND-NEW MOVIES.
The other aspects of this practice is that you can fill your car with whatever you want to eat or drink while watching the show! I went to a drive-in recently to see for myself.
I drove the car of choice, a Jeep Cherokee with a fold-down back seat. I stuffed the car with blankets, pillows, food , and drink. The sound for the movies is pumped through your car radio so if you have a good system it can be better than the movie theater down the block.
The price was $5 each person for the movies, and showing were several new releases. I popped open the back door and sat in my nest very comfortably watching the flicks. It was awesome!
A few years back I watched The Blair Witch Project at the Hi-65 Drive-In in Blaine, MN.(Which has since been sold and closed unfortunately) The setting made the movie one of the scariest things I had ever seen. As the movie progressed the sky got darker. This theater was located in the woods so it was even more scarier. When the characters were in their tent and it began to move it was like I was in there with them. I was also intoxicated by that time...
Everyone needs to go out and experience these theaters before they are all gone. There used to be so many and now there are only 2. Here is What, Where, When, and other info on the last 2 drive-ins in Minnesota.

Just to let you know that there are actually three drive-ins in Minnesota. The two that you have listed and another one called the Starlight, in Litchfield. This one is a huge one with four screens. Just a note!!!
This is a great date whether watching the movie or not (wink wink)! I love you put an old futon mattress and other blankts in the back of my truck and hook up my home shelf system into the bed of the truck this is a quality way to watch a few movies
Wow just had our first Drive in Movie experience at the Stardust Drive in Ayr Australia, Not only do you get BIG FM stereo sound in your car we got 2 movies for under $10, Popcorn and the food was priced right and plenty of it, not only can you see a movie at the Drive In you can also see one in the Galaxy Sit-In Cinema, I found the people and staff a lot more friendlier than those multiplexes, when you visit the drive in get there early as the have a 18 Mini Golf Course (movie themed of course) which was outta this world, maybe thats why its called Wacky Planet, the kids loved it. So my wife and 2 kids had a full day out at the Stardust with movie Mini Golf all for under $50 which is hard for families to find these day's. Simply outstanding and is a credit to its owner
Just had a wonderful night under the stars at the Stardust Drive In Cinema / Mini Golf complex in Queensland Australia, WoW! what a night watched 'Hancock' and Zohan' both for $8, the FM sound was something else will call back on our way back south from Cape York, had great feed the whole place is a credit to the owners, whish we had a drive in back in New Zealand.Shayne and Elizabeth
